It is no small thanks to the residents in the heart of Memphis, TN that I-40 circumvents Midtown and her crown jewel, Overton Park. After an arduous battle through out the 60s and 70’s against highway planners who sought to plant a section of I-40 through the century old forest and park, Overton Park earned its protections after it was added to the nation’s list of historic districts.
